This Privacy Policy describes how our Hebrew learning application (the "App") collects, uses, and shares your information when you use our services, and outlines your choices regarding that data.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information Collection and Use

We collect a few different types of information to provide and improve our language learning service to you.

Personal Data

While using our App, we require you to sign in using your Google Account. Through this authentication process, we collect:

• Your Name: Associated with your Google account, used to identify your contributions (like comments).
• Your Email Address: Used strictly for account authentication and essential account-related communications.

Audio and Voice Data (Speech-to-Text)

To provide our core interactive speaking features, the App processes voice recordings when you practice speaking Hebrew.

• Audio recordings are saved temporarily as local files on your device so you can play them back.
• These temporary audio files are transmitted to a third-party Speech-to-Text API for immediate translation into text.
• We do not store your audio recordings on our servers, and they are deleted from your temporary local storage after processing.

App Progress and User-Generated Content

To provide a continuous learning experience, we store data related to your study progress on our secure database:

• Learning Progress: We track how many questions you have unlocked and the spaced-repetition intervals for every unlocked question so you can pick up right where you left off.
• User Comments: If you choose to add community comments to specific questions, these comments are stored securely and displayed to other users along with your first name.

2. Device Permissions

To enable the speaking features of the App, we will request the following permission on your device:

• Microphone Permission: Required to capture your voice when you perform speaking exercises. You can grant or revoke this permission at any time through your device settings, though disabling it will prevent you from using the speech-recognition features.

3. Third-Party Services

We share data with trusted third-party service providers solely to perform essential app functions:

• Firebase: Provided by Google LLC, used to handle user authentication, host our backend database, and keep your learning data synced.
• OpenAI API: Used to convert your temporary voice recordings into text. Your audio data is sent securely to OpenAI for transcription purposes only. According to OpenAI's API data privacy policies, data sent via their API is not used to train their models.

At this time, we do not use third-party advertising networks (like AdMob) or dedicated user-tracking analytics tools.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal data and learning progress only for as long as your account is active.

Your Right to Deletion

You have the right to request the deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time. You can initiate this request directly within the App's settings menu or by contacting us at abstractprog@gmail.com.

Upon account deletion:

• Your email, name, and specific learning progress intervals will be permanently removed from our active databases.
• Any comments or notes you contributed to the questions will remain intact but will be completely anonymized (your name will be permanently replaced with "Anonymous User").

5. Security of Data

The security of your data is important to us. We rely on secure cloud infrastructure to protect your information. However, remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
